I often participate in triathlons, maybe organizing one myself is even more fun.

Diggelvuur

An interview with Daniël Hooghiemstra from Diggelvuur and initiator of Triathlon Leeuwarden.

Daniël is an active sportsman and triathlete. He is also actively involved in the organisation of an existing triathlon. “Because I am an organizer als well as a participant, I get a good sense of what works well in the experience and what can be improved. That is my inspiration and reason for organizing a fantastic triathlon in Leeuwarden.”

The first try out edition starts on August 14th 2021. Of course Leeuwarden, the start and finish location of the Eleven Cities skating tour, can’t be missed as Frisian capital in the list of Northern cities that organize a triathlon. Green Star, a unique recreation area, guarantees an optimal triathlon experience.

“I feel alot of enthousiasm among the Frisians for this event. The participants experience what Leeuwarden has to offer, in a sporty way.”

Big support base in Leeuwarden

“I feel alot of enthousiasm among the Frisians for this event. The participants experience what Leeuwarden has to offer, in a sporty way. That is important for sponsors as well, as they are essential for a world class organization. The income from the registrations doesn’t cover it. ”

About Corona...

Starting a new event during Corona is a challenge. There are alot of uncertainties, will it take place? Will you get a license and if it takes place, what will the event look like? Daniël is not worried.

“From the get-go, the communication with Atleta went smoothly. The supportteam helped me with the integration and had several useful tips and tricks.”

“I see it as an advantage that I can take the neccessary measures and adjustments into account during the preparation. This is alot more difficult for an existing event. And a triathlon is ideally suited for keeping participants seperated, maintaining distance and working with time slots and waves.”

“I wanted a user-friendly system"

Ease, reliability, simplicity for both the participants and the organizer, these formed the base for Daniël’s search for a registration tool.

“From the get-go, the communication with Atleta went smoothly. The supportteam helped me with the integration and had several useful tips and tricks. Especially as the registration process for triathlons has to meet specific requirements. We organize two distances: the sprint and the Olympic. That distinction was easily made in Atleta, a piece of cake actually.”

No registration fuss

The idea behind Atleta is simple: a state of the art registration system that you don’t have to worry about as an organizer and which has lots of time saving features. Time that you can use for other important tasks needed for organizing a successful event.

“Atleta fully lives up to this claim. I have not received any questions or complaints from participants, which is always a good sign. Atleta works well on your phone, tablet and computer. Participants receive automatic confirmation emails of all changes and I am very happy with the payment module and the possibility to refund a participant or convert to another distance with one click. This saves so much time.”

“And then we kicked off”

“After we launched the site, the tickets went like hot cakes over the counter. In no time we had sold 50% of the available tickets. Awesome of course and it strengthens my belief that Triathlon Leeuwarden is here to stay. It all starts on August 14th. We can’t wait. Naturally we hope to see lots of happy faces among the participants and the experience of a great triathlon day in Leeuwarden is enjoyed by everyone. That’s our goal!”
